HMELEC411 (S1)- HM Elective 4: Rooms Division

This course covers one of the major divisions of hotel operation, its operations, organizational set-up, the officers and functions necessary towards attaining guest’s satisfaction, the close coordination between two major departments of Front Office and Housekeeping.  It also entails the importance of understanding the duties and responsibilities, job specifications and descriptions.  Rooms Division Management will cover the following sections – Front Office, Rooms, Uniformed Services and Housekeeping.

 



HMELEC311 (S1)- HM Elective 3: Food and Beverage Cost Control

This course is intended to provide the students with the financial management of food and beverage, its contribution to property revenues and how costs are kept at bay in order to optimize service value and revenues.  The subject will provide a realistic view of managing a food and beverage operation and cost control-related information and tools the students need to achieve levels that matches their highest career goals. Values of accuracy and cost-consciousness are imbedded in the course.


HM312 (SO1)- Recreation and Leisure Management

This course introduces the students to the operations of leisure, sports, and recreation facilities and programs.  Students will be able to appreciate the importance of diverse leisure, sports, and recreations facilities and programs and how these contribute and affect the tourism and hospitality industry and to incorporate this understanding into the promotion, development and planning, operations and management of leisure and entertainment business.

HM222 (SO3/TO3)-Front Office Management

This course introduces the students to the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a hotel front office.  It involves the study of the functions, procedures, activities and organization of the front office department in a medium or large hotel with an emphasis in reservation and operation system, reception, registration and billing procedures as well as ethics, communication and human relation that essentially give the students a “real world” perspective of the hotel industry.  It also provides an understanding of how other hotel departments relate to the front office to have a smooth flow of operation and to enhance the guest experience and service satisfaction beyond expectation.
