MGT131 Human Behavior in Organization (A01-AP1)

Although skills in finance, accounting, marketing, operations, and strategy are crucial for organizational success, the ability to manage an organization, its groups, and its individuals is equally important.  In order for the organization to effectively run the operations, the individual who are hired and trained to accomplish tasks, goals, and projects; you will need to work for other people for a common goal. An understanding of the human side of management is an essential part of the system, processes and procedures.

 

The course focuses on OB Although it is sometimes difficult to define the term organization precisely, most people agree that an organization is characterized by these features: network of individuals, system, coordinated activities, division of labor, goal orientations, thus we define an organization as a collection of individuals, whose members may change over time, forming a coordinated system of specialized activities for the purpose of achieving specific goals over an extended period of time.

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

1.      Increase student’s knowledge of OB concepts so that they can understand and analyze how organizations and the people within understand each other’s personality, values, and the need to work as a team for the betterment of the organization.

2.      Provide with opportunities to apply OB concepts to real-world problems faced by managers.

3.      Develop one’s leadership and management potential not only leading the human resources but on how to effectively maximize the non-human resources as well. Leaders must successfully be able to diagnose problems, communicate clearly, make effective decisions, motivate and influence others, manage diversity, and drive organizational change.

 

Students are required to submit a mini- research of an existing business operations from different industry with the concept on how organizations manage and lead resources effectively in the 21st century vis-à-vis the changing environment
