GENERAL LINGUISTICS

General Linguistics is a three-unit course offered for BSED and AB students specializing in English.  This course introduces the basic concepts on the nature of language, properties or the characteristics of language, and the similarities and differences of human and animal languages. Furthermore, it gives students overview topics on the language systems such as phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. It also provides some sense of the ways in which knowledge and understanding develops in the field.
