ACCTG233 Strategic Cost Management (A1-C1)
In the era of growing significance of the global economy, the rapid change in organizations has challenged managers to make significant decisions through better planning and controlling organizational activities. It deals challenges using financial and nonfinancial information. This course provides students with measurable learning outcomes on the increased coverage of strategy and strategic users of cost information; increased discussion of decision users of cost management information in the areas of quality management, cost estimation and performance measurements; systematic incorporation of the new evolving management and increased attention to behavioral issues such as motivating managers and employees and effect of management control. This course will specifically cover the linkage between cost data and systems and the organization of activities in the different industries; how to match cost systems with activities and resource flows; how to apply appropriate cost allocation techniques to a variety of costing problems; the development strategies for managing costs.
