ACCTG133 Managerial Economics (A2/B4/B5-C1)

In this course, students are expected to have a basic grasp of the fundamental principles of Economics, which must have been taken up in their Senior High School courses, particularly Basic Economics and Applied Economics. This course focuses on utilizing Microeconomic principles and tools to serve as bases for managerial decision-making. One of the primary objectives of this course is to develop the capacity of the students to analyze the economic environments and factors that affect the business entities, and understand how managerial decisions can differ under various limitations and constraints. This course aims to make use of theoretical principles, mathematical tools, as well as real-world business case snippets to simulate decision-making in a managerial capacity. Similarly, this course will provide a basic framework in which all other business studies will be anchored on – Management, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Operations, Accounting, and Customer Service. This course covers an introduction to managerial economics, the economist’s view of behavior, markets, organizations, and the role of knowledge, demand, production and costs, market structures, pricing with market power.
