IT227 Networking 1 (Special Summer 2020)

This is an introductory to the evolving network technology. This course provided basic understanding and appreciation on networking: how data traverse from one end node to the other; the international standards to make data communication happens; the OSI reference model; network protocols; transmission media; and networking hardware and software.

Course Outcomes (COs): At the of the course, the students are able to:

CLO1. Describe network models, topologies, protocols, standards and architectures.

CLO2. Describe necessary hardware and components used to establish communication between multiple networks and analyze the    effects of various topologies, applications and devices on network performance.

CLO3.  Distinguish the kinds of signals, signal transmission and causes of signal degradation over the network.

CLO4.  State the step-by-step process for deriving error detection value using the different error detection and correction techniques and apply necessary algorithms and error recovery on data sent over.
